Summer Camp Counselor
May 31 - August 12 | No Weekends! $10 - $12.50 per hour (pay determined by experience)
Scope and Responsibility: Camp Counselor’s assist with the implementation of recreation programming including the Afterschool Recreation Club, Summer Camp, and other programs planned and coordinated by the Preschool and Youth Department. Qualifications Must have the ability to demonstrate and/or show competency in the following areas:
● Supervising youth and presenting positive role modeling through all interactions with program participants
● Be reliable and dependable
● Work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing/planning needs
● Exercise mature judgment and sound decision making
● Be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● All behaviors comply with the Employee Manual and Preschool & Youth Programs Handbook.
● Provide leadership and guidance to the program participants through the ability to motivate, lead, guide and teach children in an afterschool or camp setting.
● Provide program participants with a positive environment by conducting daily recreational activities such as sports, games, dance, exercise, media, arts & crafts and other activities.
● Implement positive discipline techniques and group management
● Maintain the highest standards of health and safety by keeping the program participants' best interest in mind at all times.
● Observe safety precautions; correct minor safety problems and immediately report safety concerns to the supervisor; conduct activities in a safe manner; maintain discipline at indoor and outdoor recreation areas including; pool, playground, gym, classrooms, field, etc.
● Communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, program participants and parents.
● Be flexible and a team player, working in collaboration with your team.
● Always be customer service oriented and adhere to all Island Recreation Association standards.
● Maintain a clean and orderly facility.
● Wear assigned uniform including staff shirt and name badge with whistle.
● Attend all required staff meetings and functions.
● Represent the Island Recreation Center as a role model of honest, caring, respect and responsibility.

Scope and Responsibility: Summer Activity Directors are responsible for planning and implementing assigned activities for children ages 5-13 throughout the summer. Must be available to work all Summer Camp Days. Qualifications Must have the ability to demonstrate and/or show competency in the following areas:

Adaptive Summer Camp Counselor

Scope and Responsibility: Challenge Camp Staff report directly to the Challenge Camp Director. Staff must be able to work with children and teens with various special needs. Staff will work in multiple settings; playground, gym, and classrooms. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to various situations and behaviors are needed with creativeness, patience, understanding, cooperation, and common sense. Qualifications Must be at least 14 years old and have the ability to demonstrate and/or show competency in the following areas:
• Have previous experience or a willingness to work with kids/teens with special needs
• Supervising youth and presenting positive role-modeling through all interactions with program participants
• Be reliable and dependable
• Work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing/planning needs
• Exercise mature judgment and sound decision making
• Be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
