What brought you to Island Rec?
Beach City Fitness closed permanently because of Covid so I checked out the Rec Center and was really impressed with the facility…so clean!
What is your favorite part about Island Rec?
The friendly staff, and when bad weather prevents me from running outside, I can use the indoor track and treadmills.
What is your preferred type of exercise here?
Weight room.
Do you have a favorite local restaurant?
No, because all of the island restaurants are so excellent.

What do you do for a living? If retired, what did you do for work?
Graphic Designer / Advertising Art Director.

Running and hanging out at the Rec Center.

What brought you to Island Rec?
My mom plays pickleball at Island Rec and told me it has a gym. I used a free one day pass and then became a member.
What is your favorite part about Island Rec?
The two bikes that let you travel through virtual environments are really neat. Also, the staff and other patrons are very friendly.
What is your preferred type of exercise here?
I tend to bike or run; I like my cardio.
Do you have a favorite local restaurant?
I'm a big fan of Pomodori.
Where were you born?
St. Louis, Missouri.
What do you do for a living?
I'm a physics PhD student at Stanford.
Do you have any hobbies? If so, what?
I enjoy going on long bike rides around the island. Also, I volunteer for the Coastal Discovery Museum and the Outside Foundation.

I spent a summer working on the Sea Turtle Patrol a few years back.

What brought me to HHI? I was transferred here in 1998 to run a chemical company in Beaufort, SC.
What is your favorite part about Island Rec? I love all the activities available, incredible equipment and fantastic staff.
What is your preferred type of exercise? I love doing the upside down sit-ups.

What brought you to Island Rec? Location. Island Rec is very convenient to my work and my home. I also took a tour of Island Rec prior to joining and I loved how clean it is and how all of the machines are well taken care of.
What is your favorite part about Island Rec? I enjoy working out at Island Rec but also the staff is great and I have met many wonderful people while there.
What is your preferred type of exercise here? I enjoy the elliptical machines the most.
Do you have a favorite local restaurant? Wise Guys is my favorite!
Where were you born? I was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania “Go Steelers”
What do you do for a living? I work at Hilton Head Island Early Childhood Center in Kindergarten.
Do you have any hobbies? If so, what? I love to exercise, read, go to the beach and spend time with my family.
Tell us a random fact about yourself: My husband and I both have Jeeps and we travel to different locations with our friends to ride trails and complete the Jeep Badge of Honor trails.

1. What brought us to Island Rec: After reading about it and hearing good things, we decided to take a tour. All of the staff are so friendly which is very important to us. We both love the openness and it is always clean.
2. What is your favorite part about island rec? We love the sense of community.
3. What is your preferred type of exercise? We both enjoy cardio, stretching and core work.
4. What is your favorite local restaurant? We both love Ruan Thai Hut.
5. Where were you born? Angie was born in Georgia, Matt was born in North Carolina
6. What do you do for a living? Angie is a health care provider and a natural health consultant. Matt is a design professional and land planner
7. What are your hobbies? Angie's hobbies are hiking, biking, exercise, being in nature. Matt's hobbies are biking, hiking, working in the garden and watching birds in the backyard. We both love spending time with family and friends.
8. What is a random fact about yourself? Angie: I love wine tastings and 70's disco music. Matt: I love a good brewery. We both love independent film.

What brought you to Island Rec? - I live really close by and if I went to another gym I'd practically have to drive by!
What is your favorite part about Island Rec? - The staff is always so friendly and I like that it's never too crowded.
What is your preferred type of exercise here? - I really like weights and circuits but a good long cardio is a great way to clear your head!
Do you have a favorite local restaurant? - Anywhere I can sit outside!

What do you do for a living? - I have my own business transcribing minutes for HOA board meetings.

What brought you to Island Rec?
I first came to the rec center because I was looking for a place to work out and it looked so nice from the outside
What is your favorite part about Island Rec?
I love it cuz it’s close, clean, and has a lot of equipment. The people are great!
What is your preferred type of exercise here?
I mostly do cardio but some weights and I like the rooms in case I want to do workouts
Do you have a favorite local restaurant?
I love to eat at Stellinis, Amigos, and JBZ Bonez

I love spending time with my family and my daughter and niece who live on Hilton Head and of course my good friends, and occasionally enjoy going to happy hour.

What brought you to Island Rec? Beach City Fitness closure. I looked at other possibilities. I like the bright and open feeling of the Rec Center.
